THE ROLE

Job Role

As part of an international team of approximately fifty checkers, your work will involve word-by-word checking of translations prepared by in-house and external technical staff and sometimes adapting existing translations to conform to new versions of foreign documents.

German Speaking Translation Project Coordinator

Our client, a major leader in its field of expertise is currently recruiting a Translation Project Co-ordinator to join their busy team. The position serves as contact person with multilingual vendors and clients (internal and external) for non-complex projects. The role involves communicating specific detailed instructions to foreign speaking vendors, and managing workflows and processes as instructed by senior staff members. You will also be responsible for the final quality assurance of translation and real-time, accurate recording of activities.

Responsibilities

Working closely with senior team member to identify any aspect of the project where assistance might be requested, such as glossary creation and translation memories and
complete administrative tasks in a timely manner.
Perform Quality assurance checks on translated documents
Compile and update glossaries, previously translated similar documents, list of acronyms, technical terminology, and translation memories.
Research previous translation teams and reference material to ensure consistency for repeat clients
With the assistance of senior Project Consultants, select and assign translation teams, negotiate deadlines and coordinate production with translators, proofreaders, and Customer Service Reps.
Keep senior line managers up to date at all times via Status Reports and maintain accurate records of all costs.
Check vendors' invoices for accuracy and match to purchase order.
Exercise sound judgment in keeping line managers informed of potential difficulties including those affecting cost and turn-around.

Qualifications

First degree or equivalent in Translation and/or interpretation or equivalent experience
Fluent in English plus German to mother tongue standard
Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat).
Ability to learn quickly how to create glossaries, assess quality and completeness of translations.
Basic translation memory experience including TRADOS, glossary and file management preferred.
Minimum 1 year previous experience in translation services within the financial or healthcare industry
Ability to prioritise whilst handling multiple projects simultaneously in a hectic, time sensitive environment.
Ability to accurately communicate detailed instructions to multilingual vendors.
Detail and service oriented.
Clear sense of accountability.
