Our client, one of the largest companies in the world is currently looking for a Translator/ Project Manager for their offices in London.

Job Role

The successful applicant will be responsible both for handling Language Services administration and for translation and proof-reading tasks.

Administrative duties include:

� keeping the work registers,
� producing cost estimates,
� advising and liaising with customers,
� placing work with freelance translators/interpreters/proof-readers/agencies (contractors) to ensure the best possible match between the job requirements and the service provider,
� providing background material and compiling glossaries for contractors,
� monitoring contractors� performance,
� Filing.

Translation and proof-reading tasks are:

� Translation from relevant languages into English.
� Assistance with revising translations and proof-reading in relevant languages.

The Candidate

Qualifications and experience

1. Language degree to at least upper second class, or equivalent experience, in French AND EITHER Russian OR Italian
2. Post-graduate diploma in translation desirable, though not essential
3. Experience of professional translation (preferably two years in an in-house context)
4. Experience in a job involving customer relations and/or teamwork desirable
5. Excellent powers of written expression in English (mother tongue or language of habitual use)
6. IT literacy (Windows applications)
7. Numeracy, Organisational skills
8. Interpersonal and team-working skills
9. Flexibility and adaptability, Self-motivation, Willingness to learn

The Computational Linguist will lead our client�s efforts in the natural language processing area. The opportunities for applying linguistic techniques are virtually limitless and even small improvements in the algorithms for detecting and correcting potential conversion errors translate into serious cost savings for the company.

About You
Our client is looking for a self-motivated and highly experienced Computational Linguist, who enjoys working in the dynamic and flexible environment.

Requirements
� Grammars and parsing for spontaneous speech.
� Statistical and corpus-based methods.
� At least basic programming ability (shell scripts, Perl, awk).
� Relevant degree, PhD or equivalent experience.

Desirable
� Spell-checkers, grammar checkers, auto correcting tools and predictive typing.
� Experience with Automatic Speech Recognition technology.
� Knowledge about information extraction and machine learning techniques.
� Probabilistic Language Modelling experience.
� Experience managing large multi-lingual corpora and dictionaries.
� Experience with semantic networks.
� Any European Language is desirable including French, German, Spanish, Italian or Dutch

The Company

Our client a large blue chip company is currently seeking to recruit a Bilingual Localisation Project Manager for their offices in Berkshire.

Job Role

To plan and schedule translation projects and to lead the project team to ensure delivery within budget, and to agreed schedule and quality

Main Accountabilities:

� To manage translation / localisation projects through production, tracking and reporting on costs and adherence to schedule and highlighting any issues to the Programme Manager and/or the customer in a proactive and timely fashion
� To work with the project team to quantify and secure resources to ensure projects are delivered to cost, time and quality targets and to ensure problems are identified early and solved in a timely fashion
� To continuously monitor and review production processes and, with the project team, implement improvements that will result in improved turn round times, decreased costs of production and/or improved employee satisfaction
� To work closely with the relevant Client Manager(s), providing status information as required
� To provide work outlooks to enable operational resource planning, entering planning and budget information and metrics on project planning software as required
� Compile and present project performance data at internal monthly review
� Back-up to Programme Manager

The Candidate:

� Several years� experience in Project Management, preferably within a translation/localisation or similar environment
� Experience of leading project teams
� Knowledge of different file formats e.g. html, xml an advantage
� Computer literate (MS office) including the use of Project Management/planning software and spreadsheets
� The ability to communicate well in written and spoken English
� Linguistic back-ground / language skills including French, German, Spanish, Italian or Dutch is an advantage.
� The ability to work well under pressure, to make sound decisions and solve problems creatively

Salary: �12.80 - �14.30 p/h

THE COMPANY

Founded more than 140 years ago, my client is the world\'s premier full-service provider of print and related services, including document-based business process outsourcing. It now requires an experienced Translation Project Manager to work.

THE ROLE

As Translation Project Manager you will serve as the main contact person between the major clients (internal and external) and multilingual vendors. You are responsible for managing complex projects as well as specific production teams including junior Project Coordinators and freelancers, communicating specific detailed instructions to foreign speaking vendors, and managing workflows and processes. You are accountable for the final quality assurance of translation and real-time, accurate recording of activities.

DUTIES

-Train and provide feedback to Supervisor on PC performance within designated production teams
-Manage workload ensuring tasks are allocated evenly within the team.
-Ensure that Quality Checks have been carried out satisfactorily.
-Monitor that assigned Jnr PCs follow established procedures consistently for all administrative tasks and every aspect of the project.
-Manage at least 2 major client accounts. When required, organize production-related client meetings, coordinate process review on main accounts and create Service Recovery Report.
-Create and develop translations tools used for these accounts (Translation Memories, style guides, glossaries, account information, etc.) and develop efficient workflows for maximizing the use of these resources.
-Support CRLs and other members in translations estimate analysis and preparation.

-Manage in-house freelancers efficiently and cost effectively.
-Select and assign translation teams, negotiate rates and deadlines and coordinate production with translators, proofreaders, in-country clients reviewers, typesetters and Customer Service Reps.
-Keep salesperson/Customer Service Rep up to date at all time via Status Reports.
-Keep all traffic in Atlas up-to-date at all times and maintain accurate records of all costs.
-Check vendors\' invoices for accuracy and match to purchase order.
-Exercise sound judgment in keeping supervisor informed of potential difficulties such as issues affecting cost and turn-around.
-Hands-on production involvement such as checking completeness and accuracy of translation prior to delivery to client or sending it to typesetting if needed.

REQUIREMENTS

-Degree (BA, BS) and degree in Translation and/or Interpretation.
-Fluent in English plus any European language
-Experience in finance or medical fields
-Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, html, xml). Strong knowledge of desktop publishing software (QuarkXPress, Framemaker)
-Linguistic skills to include ability to create glossaries, assess quality and completeness of translations.
-Expert translation memory experience including TRADOS, Multiterm IX, Context, glossary and file management.
-Previous experience in translation services, including Project Management/Coordination would be advantageous.
-Ability to prioritize while handling multiple projects simultaneously in a hectic, time sensitive environment
-Ability to communicate accurately detailed instructions to multilingual vendors
-Detail and service oriented and clear sense of accountability
