Our Client is a major European Union watchdog body based in Canary Wharf, whose primary responsibility lies in protecting and promoting public and animal health on an EU wide basis. Language Recruitment Services (LRS) is seeking a Bilingual EU IT Net and Systems Administrator to assist with design, administration and maintenance of the Agency’s main monitoring systems, providing integration with other monitoring systems. This role will be until December 2010 with possibility of extension.
** General objectives:
* Devices/software upgrades (patches, new versions, bug fixes)
* 2nd line support for Infrastructure problems (to 1st line/primary support)
* 3rd line support for Software-Application support group for problems in applications/services related to the infrastructure
* Liaison with vendor/external support for device/product-related problems
** Support and advice to developers and project managers:
* Check that the documentation is up to date.
* Coordinate the work of the consultants and contractors working on that area.
* Reporting to IT management for issues
* Backup and help in other functional areas. There will be a backup rotation scheme (6 months) across the teams for all the main functions.
* Implement Change request regarding the infrastructure that they maintain.
** Specific objectives:
* Design, administration, maintenance of the Agency’s main Monitoring Systems:
* Integration with other monitoring systems
* Reports based on Availability for each Agency’s main system availability
* Design and maintenance of the main networking infrastructure at Agency:
* Wireless Network Infrastructure
* Quality of Service networking
* Switches, load balancers and Routers (Agency and DR) and ISPs.
* Testa and Eudranet (From the network side. Security side see below)
* Patching & cabling for main network infrastructure (Switches, Routers, Servers, ).
* Gateways Technology infrastructure design & maintenance
* Gateway (Axway) for the ema systems
** Responsibilities:
* Main point of contact for monitoring area, responsible for that functional area’s main activities
* Discretion of approval and application of change requests with normal or low impact related to that functional area (Pre-approved change request not needed to be approved by the CAB (Change Advisory Board).
* Installation and configuration of the equipment/software specific to that area.
* Monitoring of the services provided by that area and capacity planning.
Salary levels from £12-18 per hour + Holiday Pay
