The Leonardo da Vinci is a programme funded by Brussels and co-funded by host companies and/or other organisations. The programme is aimed at supporting the acquisition of new skills to facilitate personal development and facilitate mobility of people through European partnerships. Its main objective is to “contribute through lifelong learning to the development of the Community as an advanced knowledge society, with sustainable economic development, more and greater jobs and greater social cohesion”.

Starting dates: 22 March 2010
Duration: 12 weeks
Programme abroad incorporates:
- 2 weeks Language Course
- 10 weeks Work Experience (any profession considered)
Leonardo grants + co-funding cover as follows:
* International Travel
* Insurance
* Language Course
* Accommodation
* Living allowance
The costs to the participant therefore will be a Commitment Sum of £150 (which will be refunded 3 months after completion of the programme), and whatever spending money the participant wish to take with himself/herself.
To be eligible for a place on one of these programmes, the candidate should be:
- a British citizen or a European national (legally resident in the UK)
- have ambitions to improve his/her vocational training
- unemployed, employed, school leaver or graduate
Job description: role and tasks will be discussed at interview on the basis of language skills, educational and/or professional background, career aspirations. All language speakers are applicable to apply for this opportunity.
The type of work is generally office-based in a variety of sectors. The sectors include Tourism Hospitality, ICT Companies, Cultural heritage / museums, Marketing/PR/Advertising, NGOs, Health sector, Business consultancies, Financial/Insurance services, Environmental Management and Public authorities.
Interviews will be held in Lichfield on 30th January 2010
Please note that university students taking a year out are not eligible. Flexibility and adaptability are essential for the success of the programme.
