Financial/Administrative Assistant with EU Languages!

Our Client, a major London based European Union body responsible for the protection and promotion of public and animal health throughout the EU, is recruiting for a Financial/Administrative Assistant with EU languages to join a team working on a new Research Project. The role is expected to develop as the project grows and would particularly suit candidates with a degree in Economics, Business Studies, Law or EU related subjects and a general interest in public sector finance.

The role is to start as soon as possible on a temp basis for a period of 3-5 months, with a view to becoming permanent on a contract basis. The role will be based in Canary Wharf.

Duties include:

- Budgeting and bookkeeping activities of the project ensuring timely delivery of output and assuring quality standards
- In cooperation with the project team preparation of financial reports and presentation and follow-up of budgetary aspects of the project
- Providing support to the Participants of the Consortium in the preparation, distribution and updating of their budgetary information including regular financial statements pertaining to the project.
- Performing quality checks on financial documentation issued by the Participants of the Consortium prior to onward transmission to the project’s Accountant
- Acting as a contact person vis-à-vis the Innovative Medicines Initiative Joint Undertaking and the project’s Accountant in the first instance
- Ensuring correct filing of all budgetary documentation pertaining to the project
- Working in close collaboration with all members of the project team and the Budgeting Sector
- Providing project management support to the delivery of the scientific research agenda of the project
- Providing general administrative support to the scientific administrators in the project team
- Assisting in the organisation of internal and external meetings in relation to the project
- Perform other duties as requested

Requirements:
Previous relevant experience – ideally in a financial administrative role or possibly as a consultant
Good IT skills and advanced Excel.
Excellent numeracy skills
Minimum A level equivalent education, a degree in a subject such as Economics, Business Studies, Law, Commerce or EU related would be highly advantageous.
Excellent fluency in English both written and spoken
Fluency in one of the following EU languages: French/German/Spanish/
Italian/Dutch/Portuguese/Swedish/Danish/Finnish/Greek/Hungarian/Polish/Czech/Slovak/
Lithuanian/Latvian/Estonian/Slovenian/Maltese/Romanian/ Bulgarian

Candidates should be EU passport holders (and possess full entitlement to work in the UK for Romanian and Bulgarian nationals).
Candidates will be required to provide a copy of their school leaving diploma BEFORE submitting their application to the client.

Hourly rates in the region of £10 - 12 per hour PLUS Holiday Pay. Contract salaries in the region of £25 - 32K according to relevant skills and competencies.
