We are looking for Japanese Speaking Localisation Testers to join our multi-cultural, dynamic and dedicated Localisation QA department at Rockstar Lincoln.
This is a position that will suit gamers who have a passion for languages, previous experience is not necessary. It is a full time permanent contract with 37.5 hour weeks (plus overtime paid at 1.5 X in the evenings and 2 X at weekends) and a yearly performance related bonus. This can take total earnings to £18,000+.
Duties
• The main role of the localisation tester will be to check translated text in the games, looking for context issues – making sure the text actually ‘makes sense’. They will also have to check the grammar, spelling and positioning of text.

• A localisation tester is expected to play through games from a variety of genres across all the different platforms (PC / Xbox / PS2 / Xbox 360 / PS3 / PSP / Wii / DS).

• Problems found by the localisation testers will sometimes be fixed by them, re-translations of incorrect text and shortenings of text which is too long for example.

• Localisation testers will be dealing with large text files, and preparing reports on the problems they find.

• Localisation testers will often have to work to tight deadlines, and this can involve long overtime hours and weekend work.
Key Skills and Competencies
• Localisation testers will be expected to be strong games players able to learn and master different styles of games quickly.

• The ideal candidate will speak fluently in their respective language, as well as having excellent written and verbal English skills.

• A very keen eye for detail and methodical way of thinking typifies the better localisation testers, who should be very thorough and organised.

• The applicant should have a strong knowledge of slang and colloquial terminology in their respective language.

• A knowledge of PC office software (word/excel etc) is important, as is the ability to write reports in clear and concise English.

• An ability to work under pressure is essential, along with the ability to work well within a team.

• Experience with translation or proofreading is a plus. We are less concerned with experience in the gaming industry – that said we will accept CV’s from applicants from any working background.
