The first video posted on YouTube was a 19-second clip called "Me at the Zoo." Today, more than 48 hours of video are uploaded every minute. The YouTube and Video team helps budding filmmakers and musicians build careers, creates products like Google TV and YouTube Live and runs collaborative projects like Life in a Day and the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. We are leading a change in how we entertain, inform and share with one another, whether through cat videos or footage of a revolution in progress.
The role: Content Strategist, YouTube NextLab
YouTube's growing user base provides unique challenges and new responsibilities everyday. Fast-paced, dynamic and proactive, the Content and User Operations team serves YouTube's advertisers, publishers and users around the world. Like a diligent detective, your responsibilities are to uncover and understand common issues facing these groups, and then work with the right teams to tackle the problem. Whether surfacing issues to our technical teams or recommending improvements to the team's processes and tools, you enhance the user experience on YouTube while helping increase our loyal user base over time.
As Senior Content Strategist for the YouTube Next Lab, you will be a key member of a team tasked with supercharging YouTube creator development and accelerating partner growth and success through expanding partner outreach, increasing investment in partner education and training, and creating the next generation of interactive entertainment channels on YouTube. The role requires the ability to work effectively with many types of channel creators from around the APAC region, from large-scale media companies to independent auteurs, as well as with cross-functional YouTube teams from product engineering, marketing, business development, and user experience. You will help identify and analyze rising talent in online video, and focus on advising YouTube creators and partners on their content strategy. You will understand what works on YouTube, why it works, and communicate this to key YouTube partners. You enjoy coming up with ambitious, innovative ideas and have the ability to execute on them with a clear focus on results within the organized chaos of the creative process. Most importantly, you?ll be excited by the web as a new entertainment medium, a motivation to experiment and learn from new techniques, and an understanding of how to connect with audiences directly using social media and platforms, will be key to success in the role.
Responsibilities:

* Analyze and identify high potential talent on YouTube. Provide feedback and recommendations to various teams at YouTube that provide support and resources to channels in order to accelerate growth and audience size
* Provide content strategy advice and creative support to a variety of YouTube Next Lab partners including rising talent, premium partners, and channels in the YouTube Original Programming Initiative
* Evaluate creator proposals for funding from the YouTube Next Lab on new channel ideas designed to experiment and innovate on the platform
* Track and share best practices and case studies highlighting innovations identified in the Lab?s work with partner channels, through trainings, seminars and workshops

Minimum Qualifications:

* BA/BS degree (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

* 5 years of professional experience producing content for digital media and developing online programming, branding and/or editorial strategy.
* Direct experience building channels and producing serial content on YouTube and/or similar platforms.
* Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with a community using online media.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills ? verbal and written. Proficiency in English and one Asian language (Japanese, Korean, Mandarin).
