The role: Enterprise Sales Engineer, Geospatial
When leading companies decide to "go Google," it's a huge win for spreading the power of cloud computing globally. But the Enterprise Sales team can't do it alone. Once educational institutions, government agencies and other businesses sign on to use Google Enterprise products to make their work more productive, mobile and collaborative, you come in. As an Enterprise Sales Engineer, you assist fellow Sales Googlers by problem-solving key technical issues for our customers. You liaison with the Product Marketing Management and Engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Enterprise products.
Responsibilities:

* Engage directly with customers on both technical and non-technical levels to ensure superior service as well as interact directly with key support and product personnel to resolve issues.
* Work directly with Google's geospatial products (Google Earth and Maps) to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer environments.
* Providing hands-on or virtual technical assistance, pre-sales consulting.
* Travel 50% of the time visiting customers throughout APAC.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field. In lieu of degree 4 years relevant experience.
* 5 years experience serving in the capacity of a sales engineer or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role to include working as a member of a professional services or systems engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Demonstrable knowledge of GIS technologies, including common data formats for vector, terrain and imagery data types, and GIS applications including ESRI, MapInfo, Oracle Spatial, ERDAS, PCI Geomatics, ER Mapper etc.
* Hands-on working knowledge of Linux. Working knowledge of the Web 2.0 development platform and solutions to include dynamic HTML, HTML, cookies/sessions, XML/XSLT/XHTML, J2EE, Servlets, Javascript, ASP, and other CGI.
* Understanding of enterprise networking concepts (DNS, TCP, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, DMZ).
* Programming proficiency, with emphasis on ability to rapidly prototype specialized product demonstrations using Javascript, AJAX, Flash, Java, Python and/or Perl.
* Knowledge of SQL and experience developing queries and data extraction scripts for relational databases.
* An adaptability to work in an open and unique culture where thinking out of the box is celebrated, ideas are challenged and individual initiative taking is encouraged.
