Starting salary: £20k to £25k dependent on experience
Location Woking: Surrey
STAR UK is the UK arm of the STAR Group, one of the world’s largest language service providers. We provide high-end translation services to major companies from around the world, principally from German and French into English
We are currently looking to recruit a German-to-English technical translator on a 12-month contract, possibly leading to a permanent position, The ideal applicant will have a background in translation preferably with some experience working with technical texts..
The successful applicant will join the team in our busy Surrey office, principally translating and reviewing technical material.
Essential requirements
- English to native speaker level
- Fluent in German
- Post-graduate qualification in translation from a recognised body or
- Minimum two years’ experience as a professional translator
Personal attributes
- Ability to work under extreme deadline pressure
- Ability to work well in team of translators
- Good computer literacy
- Familiarity with translation memory software (full training will be provided)
- Impeccable eye for detail
- Knowledge of other languages and other fields would be an advantage
We offer a varied translation role with projects from across the STAR Group portfolio of customers. Our office is relaxed and friendly but the heavy workload and deadline pressures make for a dynamic working environment.
Applicants will be asked to complete a test translation as part of the selection process.
Salary is negotiable and dependent on qualifications and experience. We offer 24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, a bonus scheme and, for permanent staff, a contributory pension scheme.
