Senior Electrical Engineer
(Power Transformers)

Location: Flexible (Gateshead, Cardiff or Kings Langley)
Our client is one of the worlds largest renewable energy companies seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to work with a strong engineering team who has extensive capabilities within all engineering disciplines.
To strengthen the existing design and power system analysis team and to support continued growing demands of projects the client is seeking a strong individual with excellent knowledge within the electrical engineering arena
The main duties within this role will include:
* Provide specialist support in power generation transformers
* Attend and lead design reviews
* Witness factory acceptance testing
* Investigate transformer operational failures
* Carry out quality audits
* Produce reports and review specifications
Level of responsibility:
* Lead in the technical evaluation, manufacture, test, installation and commissioning of transformers utilised in the renewable power generation industry
* Work independently with regular world wide travel
Essential requirements:
* Good degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
* Experience of power transformers utilised in power generation up to 200MVA, 400kV
* Understanding of transformer design principles including winding design and protection requirements
* Experience and knowledge of substation HV electrical plant
* Strong written and verbal communication (English)
* Ability to use standard desktop software (i.e. Word, Excel)
* Full clean driving license
Desirable requirements:
* Familiarity with electrical system modelling software (eg. PSS/E, DIgSILENT)
* Understanding of wind turbine technology, and wind farm design practice
