Job Title: Regional Sales Manager for South & Southern Africa, based in South Africa
Skills: Strong B2B Sales and Marketing experience, Afrikaans and Portuguese would be a bonus, able to travel in the region and to the UK.
Salary: c700 – 800k Rand / c55-60k + Bonus + Benefits
Location: Johannesburg / Cape Town.
Job Purpose:
You will lead the growth in sales and profits throughout South & Southern Africa through developing and implementing robust business plans. You will recruit and lead a team of technical sales managers travelling within South Africa and across the region.
Your Principal Accountabilities:
To develop and execute a business plan for the continued growth of sales and profits in the regions of South Africa and SADC (Southern African Development Community).
To develop and deliver individual specific plans for key growth countries of the region in particular South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Namibia.
To establish joint growth plans and have a close business relationship with appropriate key customers, achieved through regular contact, a good understanding of their needs and periodic personal visits.
To establish a strong team of technical sales people
To coach and develop the competencies of the technical sales team and establish clear performance metrics.
To ensure every sales person has a personal development plan and ensure implementation.
To assess, recruit, induce and develop the sales team as appropriate.
To work together with Marketing and customers to identify appropriate promotions to support sales growth and positioning of and its products.
To identify new products that can accelerate growth and to work with the New Product Development Team to champion their delivery.
As a member of the sales leadership team to live the vision and values of the company and to actively share best practice with colleagues in other regions of the world.
Candidate specification:
Graduate calibre: numerate, analytical and IT literate- MBA a definite plus
Strong Sales and Marketing background
Preferably firsthand experience of the automotive industry. At minimum a strong knowledge of business to business with importer and distributor routes to market with a fast moving consumable product
Proven country management and international track record and leadership skills.
Experience of managing a sales team
Change orientation and customer focus
Good team player
Ability to travel internationally up to 30% of the time
Language skills beneficial in particular Afrikaans and Portuguese is a definite plus
Training:
In depth product & sales training will be provided in the UK.
General:
Initially the position will be home based with frequent national and regional travel of around 30% of the time.
Candidates should be either in possession of a current South African passport or have the relevant permission to live & work in South Africa and be able to travel to SADC Countries.
