Company: A leading translation company based in Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire. The company has a varied client base and offers a clear career structure with strong opportunities for development within the translation sector.

Role:
As part of an international team of approximately fifty checkers, the work of the translation checker will involve word-by-word proof reading and checking of translations prepared by in-house and external technical staff and sometimes adapting existing translations to conform to new versions of foreign documents. Due to the high levels of accuracy involved, the translation checkers work in their own mother-tongue.

The following combination of language roles are currently available.

English mother tongue and excellent German, preferably combined with another language, ideally Chinese, Dutch, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish or Swedish,

English mother tongue and excellent French, preferably with Spanish,

German mother tongue and excellent English,

Spanish mother tongue and excellent English

French mother tongue with English & German degree

Dutch mother tongue with English degree

Recruits who demonstrate their ability could be offered the opportunity to progress to trainee translator status, involving further technical study, and then to full translator status or alternatively to administrative functions within the company, many of these openings being filled internally.

Person:
Must be able to offer one of the above language combinations
Language or translation degree or professional equivalent
Good proof reading skills
Strong attention to detail, high levels of accuracy and strong powers of concentration.
An interest in the translation sector
Able to commute or relocate to Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire (direct train from Marylebone station).
