Syzygy’s success has been driven by its strong client relationships. As part of a dedicated team a Group Account Director works to develop client business and give strategic direction on one or more of Syzygy’s accounts. A Group Account Director is required to be financially literate, both to help develop business cases for new work and to oversee all financial forecasts and reconciliations for his/her client(s). In addition, during project build, an Group Account Director communicates as appropriate to Director level employees at the Client, as well as acting as a point of escalation for the day-to-day project sponsor.
A Group Account Director tends to work alongside the client’s marketing team and agency partners’ to develop long-term mutually beneficial relationships that ensure the ongoing success of the relationship.
Lastly as a Group Account Director a core skill is presenting and communicating so, as a result, the likelihood is that new business work will fall on you at times.
What’s my role?
This role has several key objectives and measures:
1. To manage the strategic direction of the account
2. To provide digital consultancy that will result in the further use of the online channel where appropriate
3. To ensure we have 5 Quarter visibility of budgets and financial forecasts
4. To improve customer satisfaction within 2 quarters – as measured by a customer satisfaction survey
5. Is responsible for setting the account strategy and the commercial success.
6. Is responsible for several accounts.
What’ll I be doing?
To meet the above objectives you are responsible for the following:
Account Strategy
Working closely with some members of the management team, you will define the Account Strategy for your respective client. The Account Strategy’s aims are to ensure that we gain a superior understanding of your client’s issues and, in the context of the overall marketing mix, propose online solutions that add value to your client’s business.
In achieving this it is expected that you will maximise account penetration, analyse our competitive position, influence decision criteria more effectively, develop strategies to influence key decision-makers and to plan and monitor progress.
Account Commercial Performance
You will own the conversion of:
1. All the revenue for your allocated client, as defined by the company budget, into contracted revenue within the fiscal year.
2. Incremental new business revenue from your allocated clients that meet your fiscal year targets.
Day to Day Account Control
Working in close harmony with the (Lead) Project Manager you will provide day-to-day client management on specific projects and support to ensure that we offer a strategic point of view.
Client facing Documentation (with team)
It will be your responsibility to ensure that all client facing project, client and commercial documentation meets the client’s requirements. It is also your responsibility to own and manage the quality of all presentations to your clients.
UAT / QA
In conjunction with the Delivery Manager and the Lead PM, you will be responsible for ensuring that all the solutions meet your client requirements.
Reporting
Aside from the regular completion of the financial forecasts, you should work with the a Senior Project Manager to ensure that all the relevant new business opportunities are tracked and forecast, and that any opportunities are fed into the relevant management report. This should be a support role and feed into the existing process.

- Proven skills and experience in all aspects of Account Direction - with a proven client and commercial Management background in interactive marketing communications or marketing communications (e.g. DM or Advertising agency background)
- Excellent understanding and experience of commercial processes, delivering profitable business, new business, account strategy and complex solution selling
- Good understanding of marketing communications strategy
- Strong communication skills both internally and client facing
- Clear reporting skills and issue escalation
- Able to work at high speed and intensity whilst maintaining attention to detail, and put in additional hours as necessary
- Strong negotiation and leadership skills, team player and manage under stress
- Personal drive to deliver value to end customer.
