Situation in organisation:
Reports to Research Manager. The position is in London, on the trading floor. Regular contacts with American and French teams.
Job Dimensions:
- Provides trading front office and management with qualitative analysis of energy markets
- Covers worldwide gas (incl. LNG), electricity, coal and emissions markets, focusing primarily on European and US markets where we are actively trading.
- Is associated with another Analyst (and possibly interns)
- Is included in the Research team which is in charge of market analysis, quantitative analysis, operational research and trading strategy
Duties:
- Provide market reports to traders & management, as well as to headquarters and market participants; create and update presentations on market-related topics
- Analyse market data: put together trading floor statistics, analyse market prices and weather impact, study market structure in terms of companies, infrastructures and regulations, manage markets database
- Understand what are the driving forces on the energy markets and play the role of market expert on the trading floor; Ability to produce trading recommendations and price forecasts
- Work closely with Quantitative Analysts within Research team to design models including supply-demand equilibrium models
Accountabilities:
- The market analyst provides in-depth analysis to identify current and future market drivers and behaviours.
- Reactivity to news must able trading activities to anticipate market reactions
- Gives a global view of energy markets and allows understanding of energy markets interactions
- Promotes the company trading activities to clients via reports and meetings
- Enhances group\'s knowledge of energy markets
Candidate:
- University educated to at least master\'s level
- Former relevant experience in an energy trading environment
- Fluent in English
- A solid understanding of commodity trading, Financial mathematics model.
- This position requires autonomy, objectivity, innovation, to be resourceful and well organised
- The applicant should be able to explain complex issues and present them in a clear and neat manner
