Company: Cicero Translations was established in 1980 and provides translation and interpreting to regular clients throughout London and the South East, and also the North West from its newly opened Manchester office. It employs a team of four project managers. Billings are about £500,000 a year.

Role: To manage day to day running of the translation business in consultation with the MD, whose main role is business development.

Key Responsibilities:
• Management: Preparation of quotations and allocation of projects, overseeing production of translation and interpreting projects, management of four project managers, recruitment and training new staff, training existing staff (seminars, on the job), and ensuring jobs are delivered to clients on time and to a good standard. Implementing appropriate QA procedures where necessary.
• Business: visiting clients, managing the company’s web presence, keeping up to date on new software, talking to major/regular clients, partnering MD in key business development decisions, reviewing prices and controlling costs.
• Admin: Overseeing the invoicing of clients, banking etc; keeping staff holiday and sickness records, ensuring equipment is in good running order esp. computer hardware and software, checking and signing off suppliers’ invoices.

Profile:
• Must have staff management experience;
• Good with clients and staff;
• Knowledge and experience of the translations business, including TM tools – translators with management experience would be ideal;
• Fluent in English and with a knowledge of other languages, preferably but not crucially Spanish/Italian/German;
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), knowledge of Quark, InDesign, Photoshop, voiceover-related software) would be an advantage.
