Job Title: Japanese speaking VAT Consultant – Permanent

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax or finance professional with ambition and flexibility, who is ready to take the next step into a high-profile and demanding role.

Key responsibilities:
• Provide a professional VAT consultancy service on a wide variety of complex international VAT issues to existing and new portfolio of blue-chip clients;
• Liaise and coordinate with Japan office to ensure effective implementation of processes and delivery of services;
• Maintain and grow an effective client portfolio;
• Improve and safeguard internal review procedures so that the ‘learning culture\' is enriched while maintaining adequate controls over the quality of work released;
• To provide advice and assistance to clients in regulating their local VAT compliance matters throughout the EU and beyond;
• Identify and develop new business opportunities with both existing and new clients to maximise their VAT refund capabilities;
• The ability to grow and safeguard revenues through offering the complete range of VAT services;
• To assist in the preparation and review of external publications issued in the name of the Company;
• Conceptualise, prepare and deliver suitable training presentations internally and externally;
• Build and maintain successful working relationships with internal departments in order to ensure the highest quality of service to clients and to contribute to the ongoing development of the team.

Environment:
The consultancy team is multicultural, currently including members from the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Italy, Czech Republic and South Africa.
Following the completion of the training period, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop into an International VAT Consultant.

Person specification:
• A competent finance or tax professional, with at least 5 years experience in industry or professional consultancy practice;
• At least “Manager” grade in industry or professional practice;
• Equivalent European or Japanese tax or financial qualification;
• Business-level fluency in both English and Japanese;
• Excellent communication, organisational, negotiating and interpersonal skills;
• Commercial experience;
• The ability to improve revenues through growth of consultancy and advisory services;
• Passionate and highly ambitious with a commercial slant;
• Strong leadership and professional presence.
