Weekend Day-Care Co-ordinator
West London
ASAP Temp to Perm position
£12-£13 per hour
MAIN AIMS OF PROJECT AND POST:
1. To provide a comfortable and reassuring atmosphere for people with varying degrees of mental health in order to diminish the effect of isolation and overall deterioration within a day-care setting.
2. To offer a varied programme of activities in order to give opportunities for creativity, self-expression, mental stimulation, independence and social interaction.
3. To develop and supervise the work of staff and volunteers at a local centre offering weekend day care, thereby providing an alternative regular respite for carers.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall responsibility for the day to day management of the centre and service.
To provide supervision, guidance and support for the staff and volunteers working at the centre.
To ensure the smooth running of the work of the centre by the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
To be responsible - in conjunction with Support & Advocacy Manager and the Team - for on-going casework and individual care plans of people referred to the centre.
To monitor, evaluate and review
To supervise the recruitment, induction and support of new staff/volunteers and to be responsible for the supervision, support and appraisal of all staff/volunteers working at the centre.
To encourage a meaningful communication with the people attending and to ensure that their needs are met with sensitivity and consideration, thus developing the potential of individual members.
To liaise with carers and other users of the service, encouraging feedback and views when setting up service and evaluating.
To ensure that individual members cultural, social and dietary needs are being fully met.
With staff ensure that all members are actively involved in group work to maximise their individual potential.
To develop a programme of activities which allows each person attending the centre to take as much responsibility as possible and to be granted freedom of choice, whenever possible.
To ensure that appropriate confidential records of the members are maintained and to provide statistics and reports as necessary.
To co-ordinate staff/volunteers holidays, training and support needs.
To be responsible for the organisation of transport. To collect and leave information at the offices at the beginning and end of the weekend.
To ensure that the centre is secured when closed and to promote a safe environment by carrying out duties under the Health and Safety Policy.
