JD:
The Oracle e-Business Applications DBA will be responsible for the day to day Database Administration of the support environments used by the Oracle e-Business Suite of Applications for the DWP's Provider Referrals and Payments (PRaP) system.
Main Responsibilities:
* Install Oracle e-Business patches on servers;
* Make changes to database components (e.g. scripts, rules, triggers) in a controlled environment & following change/configuration management processes;
*Provide instructions and advice on database related issues;
* Monitor and optimise the database management system software environment
* Assist with trouble-shooting as required.
* Arrange and monitor back-ups and restores of individual environments as required.
* Create detailed installation and build scripts as required.
* Liaise with other teams as required to ensure project milestones are met.
Primary skill: Applications monitoring, performance tuning, cloning, patching and backup of an Oracle ERP database at RDBMS R9i or 10g
Essential skill: OAS, SQL, UNIX skills, Database Tuning, SQL Tuning, PL/SQL, Database backup and recovery, Database DR methodologies with SUN Cluster technology, Oracle Workflow; Good written/interpersonal skills; ability to work to tight timescales; project life-cycle experience preferably with Oracle R12 Financials, I-Supplier Portal or i-Procurement ; Document & Configuration Management (e.g. StarTeam)
Day to day responsibilities:
To provide daily database maintenance and monitoring for all the various databses supported within the DWP PRaP Account. Typical responsibilities will include but not be limited to: undertaking impact analysis on Change Requests & live incidents; making changes to database components (e.g. scripts, rules, triggers) in a controlled environment & following change/incident/configuration management processes; testing changes prior to release to other teams; providing instructions and advice on database related issues; installing Oracle software on servers; monitoring and tuning the database management system software environment.
