French Speaking Project Manager - Natural Resources and Good Governance

Our client, an international company is seeking to recruit a French Speaking Project Manager for their office based in London
Job Role
Duties and Responsibilities include:
• In collaboration with colleagues in the WAP, devise and implement a comprehensive strategy on good governance focusing on natural resources and adaptation to climate change, this includes:
• Taking the international debate on natural resources beyond revenue management and environmental damage
• Considering how natural resources exploitation mitigate and trigger conflict
• Considering the gender aspects of these issues
• Work closely with programme teams on conceptualising and developing this sector
• Produce comprehensive reports with strategic /policy recommendations on good governance and natural resources management
• Support and participate in the development of projects related to good governance, natural resources and adaptation to climate change
• Write funding proposals and secure funding
• Manage and supervise the implementation of projects on good governance and natural resources
• Play a hands-on role in project implementation, including but not limited to research, advocacy, the organisation and facilitation of meetings, and accompanying the work of partners
• Document and publish findings as reports, journal articles and via other relevant media
• Develop job descriptions and play a leading role in the recruitment of staff
• Manage staff members and consultants
• Motivate team members in the execution of their responsibilities, including by ensuring the development of staff capacity, and team building
• Manage and monitor budgets
• Adhere to and fulfill internal and external financial reporting requirements
• Contribute and participate in the development of WAP strategy
• Contribute to the wider development as an organisation, through engagement in policy development, management training, staff development etc.
• Represent the company at key events when necessary
This position requires extensive travel.
The Candidate
• Fluency in English and French is a must
• Post-graduate degree in one of the following fields: conflict analysis and resolution; peace building; good governance; political science; development studies – or equivalent experience
• Significant experience in peace building or related activities, and in the field in Africa
• Knowledge/ experience of working on good governance and natural resource issues in Africa
• Experience of managing people and working in teams
• Experience in managing funding relations and developing funding proposals
• Experience of participatory project planning, writing project proposals and implementation
• Experience of working in successful collaboration between northern and African NGOs
• An ability to analyse context and develop strategy
• Proven project management, and budgetary control ability
• An understanding of how gender contributes to good/bad governance and conflict
• Advanced research experience and writing skills
• High level communication skills, including:
• Facilitating groups
• Rhetorical (verbal presentation and discussion) skills
• Ability to use computers (word processing, spreadsheet, email and the internet)
• Personal diplomacy skills
• Ability to work under pressure, with strict deadlines, and to prioritise clearly
• Ability to work in teams (both person-to-person and long-distance) and in a multicultural environment
• Ability to work independently with no more than reasonable guidance
• A self-starter
• Readiness to travel (including to conflict environments) for up to 5 out of any 12 months
