My client is a global staffing solution company headquartered in London, specialising in Executive Search of Oil and Gas industry professionals. Their main Markets are Europe, North and West Africa, Far East and South East Asia, with a local presence in Algeria, Kazakhstan, and Gabon. Their clients include Shell, Eni, Total, BP, Mersk etc.


They are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to establish an office in Almaty, Kazakhstan. After two months of training here in London, you will relocate to Almaty with a small team and develop the company’s portfolio there, interacting with very senior executives – usually country managers – of large oil and gas companies. You will have a local administrative assistant who speaks Russian and Kazakh to help you set up.


The company already has many contacts there so your role would involve managing existing accounts to a large extent, as well as office management, logistics (organising visas, payments of employees etc) and recruitment and coordination of the recruitment activities.


The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of international experience and as well as fluency in English, will also speak at least one other language – preferably Russian. You will have a background in engineering and be comfortable having technical conversations at “C” level. You will also have the energy to start and drive a sales team, and the dynamism to and entrepreneurial skill to make it succeed.


The company is offering a basic salary of 35-40K with OTE 80 – 100K uncapped in the first year, with increases to follow. There is an ex-pat package in place including private health insurance and pension, housing and transport whilst in KZ and 2 round trips home per year - and all earnings are tax free!
