The English translation team focuses on providing localization and translation services to a wide variety of industries including the automotive, agricultural, engineering, manufacturing, IT, e-business, market research and telecoms sectors.

We are now looking to recruit a recent MA graduate to join our existing team of translators in Sheffield. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional translation quality and methodology and a comprehensive understanding of the demands of commercial translation.

You will have a chance to translate a variety of subject matter to include technical, financial, marketing and legal for a wide range of international clients. Duties will involve translation, review, editing, conversion from US to UK English, linguistic advising and testing. You will be expected to work independently on projects and be a self-starter. The role will also be an opportunity to develop commercial awareness and for candidates to gain hands-on experience working on some of SDL’s key accounts.

The successful candidate will be a native English speaker, will have a degree in the language you are translating from, plus an MA in translation studies or equivalent. Dedication, flexibility and motivation are essential as is an understanding of IT with good MS Office skills, the ability to work under pressure and a keen eye for detail. Candidates should be strong team players, have good organizational and time management skills along with a flexible and proactive approach to tackling tasks. Experience with Translation Memory tools would be an advantage but full training will be provided. Candidates should ideally be available to start work by October 2008.
