Hays' Specialist Recruitment business was founded as the Career Care Group in 1969 by former CEO Denis Waxman. This business was acquired by Hays plc in 1986, the Specialist Recruitment business forming part of the diversified larger Hays group.

Our business currently operates in 20 specialisms worldwide. Our largest specialism, Accounting & Finance, currently accounts for 27% of Group net fees. Our Construction & Property and IT specialisms account for 16% and 22%, respectively, of net fees. The remaining Group net fees comes from our 17 other specialisms ranging from Sales & Marketing and Education to Oil & Gas and Healthcare.

We employ 7,980 staff operating from 247 offices in 31 countries across 20 specialisms. We have market-leading positions in the UK, Asia Pacific, Continental Europe and Latin America.
